Outpatient hospital appointments (excluding maternity)

Hospital appointments are running as normal. Please don't call to check that a booked appointment is going ahead. If anything changes with your care, we will be in touch.

Individuals attending hospital for an appointment can be accompanied by one other person.

  • Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment.
  • Please leave the building promptly after your appointment.

Guidance on face masks

Before your visit

Please do not visit a patient in hospital if you feel unwell. This includes symptoms of COVID-19, sickness, diarrhoea, fever, sore throat or flu.

During your visit

Masks must still be worn in inpatient ward areas, patient admission areas, and areas with patients who are immunosuppressed. This includes:

  • inpatient wards including intensive care units
  • day-case areas
  • emergency departments
  • Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre
  • ground floor of Bristol Eye Hospital (because this includes clinical waiting areas for the emergency department and outpatients).

Masks are no longer required to be worn in any other areas of our Trust buildings. If you wish to continue wearing a mask in all areas, please do so.

We’re in the process of updating our signage and posters, so please bear with us and do ask a member of staff if you are unsure.

Masks and hand gel stations will stay at the main entrances to all our hospitals/sites. Masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be available at ward/department entrances where required.

Social distancing as we know it as a COVID-19 requirement, is no longer required in both clinical and non-clinical areas.

Please be aware that some people may still want to wear a mask in areas where one is not required, or keep some distance, and that is their personal choice. Please respect their choice.

If you are in any doubt or need to make additional arrangements to support your particular needs please speak to a member of staff.
