This integrated service means we provide sexual health care and contraception advice and treatment in a confidential and friendly environment.

Please do not book or attend an appointment at the WISH Centre, if;

•  You think you might have coronavirus (see NHS 111 website) 

  • -You have symptoms of (1) A new persistant cough, and/or (2) A raised temperature.

•  In the last 14 days you've been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus

•  You've been in close contact with someone with coronavirus

NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do. This can be accessed from www.nhs.uk. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone, but be aware there may be high volumes of calls, so where possible look at the website first.

If you need or want an STI screen and, but you do not have any symptoms,  please DO NOT attend a Sit and Wait Service, either call for an appointment or access a test online from www.unitysexualhealth.co.uk (if you are front North Somerset, South Glous or Bristol) or if you are from the Somerset area go to the Somerset Wide Integrated Sexual Health Service (SWISH) https://swishservices.co.uk/ - not a part of  Unity or WISH services.

Mission Statement

  • Our Aim is to provide you with a caring, confidential and friendly service.
  • During your visit you will be seen individually by an appropriately trained practitioner.
  • All information that you give us is kept confidential and stays within the the UNITY service unless we feel you are being put at harm or may cause harm to someone else. This will be discussed with you if this is the case.
  • All tests will be identified by number to preserve your confidentiality.
  • Any treatment, medication, leaflet or advice is free.
  • Results of tests will only be given to you personally.
  • We will treat you with respect.
  • We expect you to treat us with respect.

  

PrEP TRIAL

We have fully recruited for the men who have sex with men group for the IMPACT Trial. However, we have a few remaining spaces for:

- Trans men and trans women;

- HIV-negative people who have HIV positive partners that are not on effective treatment 

- Heterosexual people who are considered to be at high risk of HIV acquisition.

IF YOU HAVE ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CONCERNS WHEN WE ARE NOT OPEN YOU CAN CONTACT YOUR GP OUT OF HOURS NUMBER. IN LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES CALL 999 AND IN NON LIFE THREATENING MEDICAL EMERGENCIES CALL 111.

 

THE WISH CENTRE IS ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE IMPLANTS AND COILS FOR CONTRACEPTIVE REASONS (NOT FOR MENAPAUSAL REASONS) AND ARE ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE THEM WITHIN CERTAIN GUIDELINES. IF YOUR GP CARRIES OUT THIS SERVICE THEY WILL BE YOUR FIRST POINT OF CALL. IF NEEDED PLEASE CONTACT US FOR MORE INFORMATION. WE ALSO DO NO LONGER PROVIDE A CERVICAL SMEAR SERVICE, AGAIN, YOUR GP WILL BE YOUR FIRST POINT OF CONTACT FOR THIS.

Throughout all of our sessions we run an all age service (13 year olds and up). We have a dedicated service to under 20's on a Tuesday evening.

WE ARE CLOSED ON BANK HOLIDAYS AND SUNDAYS

 

Please be aware when the Sit and Wait slots have gone then there are no more available until the following session. If you attend and they have gone then you will be offered an appointment for the next available time or be offered to return to try another Sit and Wait session.

 

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment time to complete the triage form required for each attendance. This form is to be completed to maintain your confidentiality (rather than asking all of your details at the reception widow) and to ensure all of your details that we have are correct.

 

Parking can often be difficult at the hospital due to the high volume of patients seen at the hospital in relation to the car parking spaces available. Please take this into consideration when attending for your appointment.

 
Late for appointments- If you are 10 minutes or more late for your appointment, then you may be put on to the sit and wait list and be seen when the next slot is available.
