Volunteers' Week

Over 21 million people volunteer in the UK at least once a year and this contributes an estimated £23.9bn to the UK economy. Behind these big numbers is a big contribution.

These 21 million people are a shining example of how we can all make a big difference to individuals and communities every day. Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution these millions of volunteers make across the UK – and it takes place from the 1-7 June every year. You find out more information by visiting www.volunteersweek.org.

We're supporting the national celebration of volunteers because we are aware and value the huge contribution our own volunteers make, from spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to a range of other essential services and support.

How much time do I have to give?

Most volunteers come in once a week for a regular session of two to four hours depending on their placement. A regular commitment is needed for a minimum period of six months. This helps us to ensure that your experience is valuable and rewarding to you as well as our patients and staff.

Will I receive training?

You will be required to attend the Trust induction prior to starting your volunteering placement, following this you will receive training and support specific to your placement.
