All members of the public are warmly invited to attend Weston Area Health NHS Trust’s (WAHT) Patients’ Council open evening on the 7 November 2013 from
6-7pm. The evening will be held at the Lecture Theatre in the Academy building at Weston General Hospital, Grange Road, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 4TQ.
The Patients’ Council was launched a year ago and represents the voice of hospital patients and visitors. It’s a voluntary group made up of past and present patients and members of the public who want to be more involved in the daily life of Weston General Hospital. With a direct line to hospital management, the Patients’ Council helps improve the quality of services as well as educating and involving people in local health services. The open evening is a chance for anyone in the Weston or North Somerset area to find out more about the Council, have a say in what they think the Council should be doing in the future and to support their local NHS.
Over the last year the Patients’ Council has been involved in:
Nathan Meager, Chair of the Patients’ Council, and Somerset resident said:
“Everyone is welcome to come to the open evening. We’re a friendly and diverse group of people with a variety of interests and experiences but the one thing we have in common is that we all share the same goal of representing the voice of patients at the highest levels of the Trust. We are holding the open evening so that people can find out more about what we do and have a say. You don’t have to give up lots of time, or even have been a patient – just come along on Thursday and find out more.”
Gill Hoskins, Associate Director of Governance and Patient Safety for Weston Area Health NHS Trust said:
“Weston Area Health NHS Trust is proud of the achievements of the Patients’ Council and we welcome all members of the local community to join. The Council are celebrating a successful first year and have already been incredibly helpful to the Trust. We look forward to working with the Council in the future with the shared aim to work towards improving the quality of care at WAHT.”
