Continuing restricted visiting hours due to Norovirus

Home

To continue on with its bid to ward off Norovirus from its wards, Weston General Hospital will only be open to visitors from 2-3pm and 6-7pm this week.

Further conditions remain in place such as a maximum of two adult visitors per patient and children under 11 years old will not be allowed to visit. People will be turned away unless these measures are followed.

Three wards remain closed to new admission at the hospital due to Norovirus - Uphill, Kewstoke and the Stroke Unit. With high rates of Gastroenteritis in the local community and evidence of Norovirus being brought into the hospital from a family visitor, these strict measures are being put in place to combat the highly virulent infection.

The hospital continues to urge people not to come if they’ve experienced diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours.  We are making every effort to inform current patients and their visitors of the restrictions. Terminally and critically ill patients are not subject to these restrictions.

The Trust will continue to review the visitor restrictions.
