Radiology team wins national commendation for patient service

Weston Area Health NHS Trust’s Radiology department has joined a select group of Trusts across the country to achieve a national quality mark for high standards of patient service.

The X-Ray department won an accreditation to the ISAS Standard (Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme), for delivering high quality imaging services to patients, in safe environments.

ISAS is a patient-focused national assessment scheme. To receive an accreditation, organisations must showcase best practice in patient experience, clinical effectiveness, and patient and staff safety.

Jane Baker, Lead Radiographer at Weston Area Health NHS Trust, said: “We’re delighted to become one of the select few organisations in the country, and one of just two Trusts in the region, to achieve the ISAS accreditation.

“Our entire Radiology team has worked hard, for more than a year, to provide the evidence that our standards meet the strict requirements of the ISAS accreditation.

“Despite the hard work we were very pleased with the end result because we were able to make improvements, such as providing patients with greater amounts of information about our services and refining our feedback channels.

“We wanted to achieve the accreditation to highlight the great work being accomplished by the department and the Trust in general.

“The Standard is also a mark of our quality and excellence, which provides patients with more confidence that we provide a safe and efficient diagnostic imaging service which operates to a high standard.”
