Speaking on the CQC follow up report, which was published today (28 September 2015), James Rimmer Chief Executive Weston Area Health NHS Trust said: “Our dedicated staff worked extremely hard on addressing the actions arising from the first inspection’s findings and we’re pleased that our efforts have been recognised by the CQC. Undoubtedly there’s still more to work do as we continue on our journey of improvement.
“Since our official inspection in May, among other areas of work, we have been focusing on developing our training for junior doctors. We are delighted that both our junior doctors and the CQC speak very positively about the new programme reporting that it has “exceeded expectations.”
“Recently we’ve created a Sustainability Board which is one of our new approaches to medical staffing. Its purpose is to develop clinical networks with our three surrounding acute hospital Trusts in Bristol and Taunton to share specific Consultant appointments. It’s still early days, but we hope we’ll be able to attract more doctors on a long term basis to add to our existing highly skilled medical workforce.
“Planning work is underway with partners across the community to put a new package of home care and support in place. This is alongside implementing a medically fit discharge area so that our acute hospital beds are available for patients who really need them."
