Local NHS appoints ex Council boss to its Board of Directors

Previously Chief Executive of North Somerset Council for 12 years before retiring in 2013, Graham joins the Board of Directors as the Trust continues to develop as a sustainable and significant local provider as defined within the NHS Five Year Strategic Vision. 

Graham replaces George Reah, who is retiring in January 2017 having been a Non-Executive Director at Weston for eight years. 

Speaking about the new appointment, Grahame Paine, Chairman of Weston Area Health NHS Trust said: 

“Graham brings his public sector experience and personal knowledge of North Somerset to the Trust boardroom at a time when NHS and social services across the UK are under greater demand. 

“He has been at the helm for many of the innovative changes across our region benefitting both our local community and economy. I do hope he will bring that innovation to bear in our journey of building a strong, confident and sustainable future for the hospital and our services. 

“I’d also like to express my thanks to George Reah for his long service and personal commitment to the Trust. George has bought been a support to myself and my Board colleagues over the past eight years and we shall miss his conscientious approach to improving services. 

Speaking on his appointment, Graham Turner said:

“On a personal note, my family and I have had a lifelong commitment to the NHS and have reasons to be grateful to Weston General Hospital for the care given to us over the years. I’ve worked in public services for almost 40 years and I would like to see some of what I have learned contribute to the Trust’s future.

“I hope my oversight and passion will help Weston fulfil its future potential working in partnership with other health and care services both across North Somerset and the west of England. I am very much looking forward to taking up my new appointment.”
