Shining a light on endoscopy

Home

On Thursday 4 October, the Endoscopy department at Weston General Hospital is opening its doors as part of a recruitment event. The department will be open from 08:00-13:00 to look around, handle equipment and see what the team do.

It is a fully refurbished department, JAG (Joint Advisory Group on gastrointestinal endoscopy) accredited and has expanded the workforce to provide high-quality, dignified care for patients requiring diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.

Both inpatients and outpatients are seen in the department which is open 08:00-18:00 Monday to Saturday. Bowelscope screening is also offered to local patients.

Patient survey outcomes and staff feedback is excellent and the team is very friendly supportive.

Staff will be on hand at the open event to answer questions. The sister of the department and the endoscopy matron will be available and there will be demonstrations and an opportunity to be interviewed for current band 5 positions.

Student nurses wanting to find out more about endoscopy are encouraged to come along.

Refreshments will be available.

To attend please contact sister Melanie Stringer by email at melanie.stringer@nhs.net or just turn up/drop-in on the day.
