Health events and support in North Somerset

Home

Supporting patients, carers and their loved ones during a stay in hospital is what our staff do every day, but did you know there are many events taking place, in conjunction with Weston Area Health NHS Trust to ensure that support is also available in the community?

Director of Nursing at Weston Area Health NHS Trust (WAHT), Sarah Dodds, said: “I am extremely proud of the dedication staff show towards our patients and their families. These events are a true example of staff going that extra mile to ensure we are working with partner organisations to share knowledge, expertise and advice for the benefit of our local communities.”

Maybe you or a family member or someone you care for has been diagnosed with dementia. Why not come along to Lillian’s Memory Café at Rafters Restaurant in Weston General Hospital. In conjunction with Dementia UK, anyone affected by dementia is welcome to pop in between 10am and midday on the first Tuesday of every month, starting on Tuesday 1 October 2019. Join us for a cup of tea and some company, an informal chat or information, help and advice.

Led by The UK Sepsis Trust and supported by WAHT’s clinical safety lead nurse, the Somerset Sepsis Support Groups have two upcoming meetings – 6.30pm on Wednesday 16 October in Taunton and 6.30pm on Wednesday 13 November in Yeovil. These meetings are for anyone who has been affected by sepsis, either yourself or someone close to you. For more information, please call 0808 800 0029.

Are you a patient, carer, teacher or teaching assistant who needs more information about social communication challenges and autism?

It takes place on Wednesday 13 November between 10am and 2pm. You will be able to listen to presentations, meet other parents, talk to professionals and gather information from the exhibiting organisations.
