They wore their TA reserves uniforms to work for one day (Weds June 22) to show their support – and that of the Trust – for the work of the Territorial Army and the Armed Forces in general.
Armed Forces Day is Saturday, June 25.
Hospital Divisional manager David Thomas (left) and Emergency Department Clinical Services Manager Stuart Sullivan (right) wore their uniforms in the rank of Major. Consultant Radiologist Dr Chris Cook (centre) is a recent recruit into the TA, but was unable to wear his uniform due to clinical commitments. He will also take up the rank of Major.
The Territorial Army (TA) is the largest of all the Volunteer Reserve Forces, and currently numbers some 25,000 officers and soldiers; the vast majority of whom are employed in civilian roles.
Alison Kingscott, Director of Workforce and Corporate Services at the Trust said: “We were pleased to allow those staff who wished, and for whom it was appropriate, to wear their TA uniforms for the day.
“The Trust is keen to support its staff in their external commitments to other forms of public service and also keen to support our Armed Forces, particularly as we approach their special day.”
