Santander were the sponsors of last autumn’s Hallowe’en Ball held in aid of the Diamond Appeal and Sue Ryder Care at Rookery Manor.
Their staff were actively involved in organising and supporting the Ball, and in doing so match-funded each charity with £3,500, on top of ticket sales income.
The donation was one of the last needed to bring the appeal, launched on the 60th anniversary of the NHS in 2008, up to its £220,000 target.
The scanner is now on order and it is hoped it will be in place and in operation in the spring.
At present, X-ray images are processed onto film, but a digital scanner takes an electronic image and stores it onto a computer. It will take just a couple of seconds to view an image and staff will no longer be required to process the images with chemicals, as they do now – so the new machine will make things better for both patients and staff.
Weston Area Health NHS Trust Chief Executive Lorene Read said: "It was a sincere pleasure to work with Santander throughout the preparations for the successful Hallowe’en Ball at Rookery Manor last autumn, and we are delighted that they have also been able to make this generous gesture to the appeal in addition to offering that valued support.”
Jenny Trapnell, Relationship Manager of Santander Business Banking in Bristol, said: “Staff at Santander are actively encouraged to work with local and national charities to help raise funds via the £ for £ fundraising scheme. It is always a pleasure to help a worthy cause generate additional funds.”
