Borrowing

The library has over 4,000 printed items cover a variety of specialisms, such as general medicine, nursing, orthopaedics.  Registered library users may borrow a maximum of 8 items. The loan period is either 28 or 14 days.

Reference books and journal issues may not usually be borrowed

The library has a self-issue machine and users are able to take books out using their card. If users do not have their card they can either give the book/s to staff to be issued or if this is during out of hours a paper form must be completed for each item borrowed.

Renewals

You may renew books up to three times via SWIMS online or by phone email or in person. Items reserved by another reader cannot be renewed.

Returns

Please either return your books via the self-issue machine or hand returned items to a member of library staff. The library has a “returned books box” which is situated in the Academy foyer.

Items may be returned through internal or external mail, but borrowers are held responsible for items on loan to them until the loan has been discharged by library staff.

Overdue Items

Users are required to pay a fine of 20p per item for each day after the due date that items remain overdue. Reminders of overdue items will be sent to borrowers. After three reminders, the borrower will be invoiced for the full replacement cost of the item plus a £20 administration charge and any outstanding fines.
