Walk With Weston Nurses for Nurse’s Day

Home

The theme is inviting others to “walk with nurses” to understand the wide range of nursing roles in health care.

The wide variety of activities planned at Weston to achieve this include:

  • Nurses will be present in the main entrance of Weston General Hospital every afternoon meeting the public to talk about their roles and give health advice

  • There will be a display in the main corridor of the hospital illustrating the variety of nurses’ roles across Weston Area Health NHS Trust

  • Nurses and patients will be encouraged to share their experiences on the Hospital website www.waht.nhs.uk and also on a ‘Nurses Day’ page hosted by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) on their website

  • Weston General Hospital is working with Weston College and has organised students on health care courses to shadow nurses every afternoon between 8-11 May

  • Nurses from Hospital and Community services will be on Weston Grand Pier on Friday 11 May, explaining their roles and offering health advice to the public

  • Nurses are going to sixth-form colleges and Weston College to deliver presentations on nursing careers

  • On Nurses Day; Saturday 12 May. Nurses are inviting the public and other health care professionals to be sponsored to literally “walk with nurses” from Weston General Hospital to Weston College (Knightstone Campus) to celebrate Nurses Day and also raise money for Age UK
