International and domestic recognition for one of Weston General’s leading Consultants

One of Weston General Hospital’s senior doctors, Dr Parag Singhal, Consultant Physician has recently won recognition at home by the Prime Minister and abroad from the nation of India for his contribution to medicine and patient care.

One of Weston General Hospital’s senior doctors, Dr Parag Singhal, Consultant Physician has recently won recognition at home by the Prime Minister and abroad from the nation of India for his contribution to medicine and patient care.

 

A doctor at Weston General Hospital for fifteen years, Dr Singhal, also Clinical Director at the Trust, has many achievements in delivering outstanding patient centred care since he trained in Delhi, India in 1993.

 

At the end of the summer he was awarded the Bharat Gaurav Award. Run in partnership with the Indian government the Award is organised by the social enterprise and charitable organisation Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha – a household name in India.

 

It recognises distinguished service to the nation of India for outstanding individual achievements, recognising individuals who have benefited the wider community. 

 

The Award was presented to Dr Singhal at a special ceremony in the House of Commons by the High Commissioner of India Mr Ranjan Mathai and Baroness Verma, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for International Development.

 

Then, at the end of last year Dr Singhal was invited to a special reception for Indian nationals at No 10 Downing Street.

 

Organised by Prime Minister, the Rt Hon David Cameron MP, his invitation was extended to recognise his involvement with the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO).
