Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation (rehab) is a supervised program provided by Weston Area Health NHS Trust that helps to improve the health and well-being of people who have been treated for heart problems.

Referrals to Cardiac Rehab

Referrals are made by the Bristol Heart Institute, General Practitioners and other hospitals for patients who have had myocardial infarction (heart attack), percutaneous coronary intervention (stent) and/or cardiac surgery (bypass or valve) within the last 6 months.

Patients who have been referred to Cardiac Rehabilitation will be assessed by the Clinical Nurse Specialist and offered the most appropriate rehabilitation programme.

Outpatient Clinics

Outpatient clinics are held by the Clinical Specialist Nurse on Monday mornings and afternoons.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Programmes

Cardiac rehab programmes are by assessment only and patients will be allocated a place on the most appropriate programme.
