Mr. Mark Price


Mark Price is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon. He qualified from the University of Southampton in 1997. Mr Price then spent time training in Orthopaedic Surgery across the South coast and gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Tr & Orth) in 2009. During this time he also attained a Post Graduate Diploma in Orthopaedic Engineering.

He was completed two fellowships during his training. The first was at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, one of the busiest joint replacement units in the country. Here he received further specialty training in complex hip and knee replacement techniques as well as revision hip replacement surgery. He then completed his training with a 12 month fellowship in trauma surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia. Here he completed training in both complex trauma management especially around the hip and pelvis but also further experience in complex joint replacement surgery. Recently Mr Price has travelled to both Germany and France to learn about new techniques for hip and knee replacement.

Outside work Mr Price enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and is a keen cyclist, swimmer and skier. 

Mr Michael Bould
MA, MB, BChir, FRCS, FRCS (Tr&Orth)


Mr Bould trained at Cambridge University and Guys' Hospital London, before basic surgical training and then specialist orthopaedic training in the Bristol region. He has undertaken a shoulder surgery fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London.

Mr Bould specialises in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery as well as arthroscopy and sports injuries.

 

 

Alanna Pentlow

Alanna Pentlow is a consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, with a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery. She qualified from Newcastle University in 2004 and completed specialist orthopaedic training on the Bristol rotation, prior to undertaking further specialist complex foot and ankle training at the renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

She has expertise in a full range of foot and ankle procedures including arthritis, trauma, sports injuries, diabetic foot problems and deformity. She dedicated to expanding and developing the foot and ankle service at Weston General Hospital, to provide excellent care for patients locally.

Alanna lives in Bristol with her husband and young children and enjoys running and skiing.

Mr Michael Radford
MBBS, FRCS, FRCS (Tr&Orth)

 

Michael James Radford is a specialist knee and sports surgeon with expertise in all forms of knee replacement, sports reconstruction, cartilage repair and arthroscopic surgery. He has a specialist interest in young person arthritis.
He qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1992 and undertook orthopaedic training on the prestigious Oxford rotation. He spent a year specialising in knee surgery at the world renowned North Sydney Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Centre.As well as maintaining a busy clinical practice, Michael continues to teach as part of the faculty on the final FRCS (Tr&Orth) revision courses in Bristol and Oxford.

Michael's skill as a surgeon has been recognised by industry. He is on the expert forum for the Oxford Knee replacement teaching nationally and internationally on its correct implantation. He is also on the expert forum for the Lars Ligament and one of the few national surgeons to be selected by Smith and Nephew to attend their annual forum. Michael is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, British Orthopaedic Association and British Association for Surgery of the knee.

 

Mr Hideki Nagata

BMedSci BMBS FRCS (Tr&Orth)

Mr Hideki Nagata graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2003. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the Bristol rotation. He has a specialist interest in hand and wrist surgery and spent a year on the nationally selected Advanced Training Post Fellowship in Ortho-plastic hand surgery in Sheffield. Mr Nagata’s practice encompasses all areas of hand and wrist surgery including Dupuytren’s contracture, nerve compressions such as carpal and cubital tunnel and arthritis. He is dedicated in developing an excellent hand service to provide the best care for the patients of Weston General Hospital.

He lives with his wife and young children in North Somerset

 

Koye Odutola

Koye Odutola joined the trust as a Consultant in 2015. His professional interests are problems involving the hip and knee as well as general Orthopaedic trauma. For hip problems he has an interest in so called joint preservation surgery with an aim to identify problems in the hip and deal with those before they lead on to development of arthritis. This work is increasing done using minimally invasive or “keyhole” surgical techniques. In addition he is also an expert in hip replacement.

For the knee he has specialist interest in general knee problems including torn cartilage or early arthritis and can manage some of these using keyhole surgery or arthroscopy. In those who have established arthritis he is highly experienced in forms of total but also partial or Unicompartmental knee replacement.

He is an enthusiastic cyclist and lives in Bristol with his wife and young children.

 

Riaz Ahmad


Riaz joined the trust as a Consultant in August 2015. During the course of his Orthopaedic training in Bristol, he gained extensive experience in general orthopaedic surgery, teaching and research. He developed an interest in knee  surgery, and did one year Fellowship at the prestigious Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit. He also did  travelling  fellowships with Prof Verdonk and Dr Koen Lagae in Belgium and Dr Sonnery-Cottet in France to gain further experience in management of Patello femoral problems and sports injuries of knee . He followed this by gaining further training in foot and ankle surgery at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. His sub-specialty interests are knee arthroplasty including revisions,  patellofemoral problems, sports  injuries of the knee  as well as general orthopaedic trauma. Riaz has a keen sports interest, previously playing cricket at college level, but now enjoys travelling and watching sports. He lives in Weston Super Mare with his wife and two children.

 

Mr. Asif Z. Khan
BSc (Hons), MBBS, MSc (Orth Eng), FRCS (Tr & Orth)

 

Mr. Khan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot & Ankle and Trauma surgery as well as Knee Arthroplasty. He has a particular interest in Diabetic foot care and Complex Foot & Ankle trauma. He has expertise in the full range of Foot & Ankle surgery including sports injuries, degenerative disease and deformity. He is trained to provide a number of minimally invasive/arthroscopic operations. He also offers knee replacement surgery for arthritis. 

 

He qualified in 2006 from St. George’s, University of London and completed his Foundation training and Core surgical training in South East / East England, before moving to the Bristol area for specialist Trauma & Orthopaedic training. During this time he also gained a MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University. He then completed a 12 month fellowship in Foot & Ankle, Knee arthroplasty and Trauma surgery in North Bristol at the major trauma centre and Avon Orthopaedic Centre. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2018. 

 

Mr. Khan is a keen teacher, training junior surgeons and medical students and has also helped organise, and remains faculty on, the Bristol FRCS (Tr & Orth) revision course. 

He lives in Portishead with his wife and sons and enjoys travelling with his family.
