If you are seen by an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) consultant, they may recommend hearing aid(s) to be fitted. If this is the case you will be referred to the Hearing Services department for a 'ULL and Impression' appointment.
ULL stands for Uncomfortable Loudness Level measurements.
This test measures your tolerance to loud sounds as these are required for the appropriate fitting of your hearing aid.
A questionnaire will also be completed establishing the difficult listening environments you encounter. This helps us understand the effects your hearing loss has on your lifestyle.
Your hearing test results and the option of either one or two hearing aids will be discussed with you.
Depending on your hearing loss, ear moulds may be made so that we can provide a hearing aid(s). Alternatively we will take measurements for an open fitting.
An appointment will be made for you to return to the department to have your hearing aid(s) fitted.
